Plantation Desk
Late 19th century plantation desk. This model is based on a piece that has been in my family since it was originally purchased new in Fort Collins, Colorado in the very early 1900s. The upper portion containing the drop front and the cubby holes sits on top of the base with the drawers. In the original, the turned legs screwed into the base. When I built a copy of the desk, I elected to build the legs into the base like a small Shaker two-drawer table. I also modified the original cubby hole arrangement to better suit my needs.
